ATMAK Nexus mobile application · Last updated: 26 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the ATMAK Nexus mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use it to set up and control ATMAK IoT devices. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information the App handles
The App is designed to control your own IoT hardware. It handles the following:
- Wi-Fi credentials — when you provision a device, the Wi-Fi network name and password you enter are sent over a direct Bluetooth (BLE) connection to your own ATMAK device so it can join your network. These credentials are stored on the device and on your phone; they are used only for this purpose.
- Device & sensor data — readings and status from your nodes (for example relay states, power/energy values, temperature, and similar) along with device identifiers, names, and configuration you set.
- Cloud account / connection details — MQTT broker and database connection settings used to sync your devices, which are stored locally on your phone.
- App preferences — settings such as home name, node names, rooms, and display options, stored locally on your device.
The App does not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and contains no third-party advertising.
2. Permissions and why they are needed
- Bluetooth — to discover, pair with, and provision ATMAK devices over BLE.
- Location — Android requires location permission to perform Bluetooth Low Energy scanning. The App uses it solely to detect nearby ATMAK devices; it does not track or store your geographic location.
- Local network / Internet — to communicate with your devices over your Wi-Fi network and, optionally, through the cloud when you are away.
- Notifications — to alert you about device status or events you have configured.
3. How your data is stored and transmitted
- On your device — most configuration and preferences are stored locally on your phone.
- On your ATMAK hardware — Wi-Fi credentials and device settings are stored on the device you provision.
- Cloud sync — when enabled, device data is sent to the cloud services you connect (an MQTT broker such as HiveMQ, and/or a Firebase Realtime Database) so you can monitor and control devices remotely. This data is associated with your devices, not with personal identity information.
- Encryption in transit — cloud connections use secure (TLS) connections where supported by the service.
4. Third-party services
When you enable cloud features, the App communicates with third-party infrastructure that you configure or that ATMAK provides, which may include:
- HiveMQ (MQTT messaging) — for real-time device communication.
- Google Firebase — for data storage and push notifications.
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or unrelated third parties. Data is used only to operate the features you use within the App.
6. Data retention and deletion
Data stored locally is removed when you delete it in the App or uninstall the App. To remove data held in cloud services you have connected, you can clear it from within the App or from the respective service, or contact us for assistance.
7. Children's privacy
The App is intended for use by adults setting up IoT hardware and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, within the App.
